Dear Madam,
I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary
War pension claim, R. 10720, it appears that Michael
Truby, Senior, was born May 22, 1762, at "Blue Mountain",
Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
He applied for pension April 19, 1837, while residing
in the Borough of Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, and stated that while residing in Bedford County, (which was afterwards Westmoreland County) Pennsylvania, where his father was proprietor of a block house or fort, he enlisted in November, 1778, and served three years and eight months as a drummer under his father, Captain Christopher [hard to read but must be Truby], who commanded his own block house and other stations on the frontier for the protection of the inhabitants.
His claim was not allowed as he did not serve in an embodied military corps as required by the pension law
under which he applied.
There are no data as to family, other than the above reference to his father.
Very truly yours,
Earl D. Church
Commissioner.
