Ferguson SC Santee River
Looking for information about the town of Ferguson, SC, on the Santee River, now submerged under Lake Marion. The town was named for a Ferguson family who lived there. The name is preserved only in "Ferguson's Landing," a boat-launching site on the lake. The earlier town was big enough to have three hotels. There was a cypress lumber company there, one of the biggest lumber companies in the US at the time. Would love a map or sketch of the town, or photos, or information about the family. This is not my family; just interested.
