Classification: Query
Surnames: Borkovsky/Borkowsky
In 1894, in New York, my Grandfather's first wife died a day or two after giving birth to twins - Lewis and Simon. Grandpa's name was Samuel Borkovsky and his wife's, Freida Borkovsky. She died in Beth Israel Hospital on 29th May, 1894.
My grandpa already had another young son, Herman, who was born in December, 1892 and he was unable to look after the three boys. He went to Paris, to learn fashion design, leaving the boys in an orphanage in New York - possibly a Jewish orphanage - maybe not. He wasn't able to return for them until 1903.
My question is, it possible to find out which orphanage they were in? If so, how? I live in Adelaide, South Australia.
Myra.
