Hi,
I'm sorry, he wasn't there. Doesn't mean he didn't come from the New York Juvenile Asylum, but I don't think he did if he was adopted. Generally the children from the NYJA were apprenticed not adopted. Many, like my grandfather, maintained contact with their birth family.
Not all children that came to Illinois are in my book, just those that had letters that they wrote back to the NYJA that have been saved at the U of I.
