Surnames: Margaret Ann Nolan on the Orphan Train to New Orleans
My cousin's husband is 74 and has always wanted to know more about his Mother's family. He told me his mother was Elizabeth Ann Nolan, born 12 Feb 1910 (although the SSDI says born 9 Feb 1910), NYC, NY, to Alfred and Margaret Nolan. He also said Elizabeth was the last child on the orphan train in New Orleans, and was adopted by an old widow lady named Bordelan. He said Elizabeth remembered being placed in an Orphanage in the NYC area when she was 3.

I think i've found Elizabeth (but as Elizabeth Noland)in the 1920 Census in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana with a widow named Augustin BBertrand, not Bordelon. And before that in the 1910 Census, Bureau of Manhattan, New York, NY, as a lodger, age 2 months, with the family of Andrew J. & Jenny McConnell. I also found an obituary for a Margaret Nolan in the NYC or Brooklyn area who died just a few days after Elizabeth was born. My Cousin's husband said Elizabeth never knew what happened to her parents. But she did say she thought they were from Ireland.

My Cousin's husband is not in good help and would be very pleased if you could help us find anything further about Elizabeth, the orphanage she was in, and possibly any further information about who her parents were and what happened to them.

I'm so glad you've offered to do these lookups.
Thank You,
