I left in 1962

The swimming pool was still rather new. I watched it being built. I think it was 1960 or 61. There use to be a brick structure. It was what was left of two class rooms that was used, by the old Children's home prier to 1950, as a school. It was built some time in the 1920's out of old bricks that where selvedge from Long Beach earthquake. It was fun watching them try to demolish it. No one realized that it the time but it was steal and concrete reinforced. Everyone thought they could just heat it with the tractor a few times and it would com crashing down. But they ended up calling in a wrecking ball and crow. we watched as the wrecking ball keened bouncing of the structure loosening one brick at a time. They moved the roof behind the infirmary next to what was once a orchard.
