Hello, I was at the Good Shepherd Convent from 1959 to 1963. The nuns were very abusive and I had many bad experiences there.I saw nuns beating girls and throwing them in what was called " The Hole" It was a room in the basement by the kitchen. I think it was a storage room for potatoes, and veggies. but it had a toilet, sink and mattress. No windows, cement floor. The time spend there for anything was 30 days.
I don't have a good feeling when I think back on what horrible abuse I had also.A girl in 1958 committed suicide there, she jumped from the 3rd story rumpus room. She died in Mother superiors arms. (I was told of this by a girl who witnessed the jump, she was still traumatized by it when I met her the next year.)She did it because of the bullying of the nuns telling her that she was no good.
