You left about one year before I arrived. And just as you described, the dormitory was the same. Double line of beds, the dressing tables, etc. I too attended Garfield.
I too felt very lonely. Although my sister and brother were also there, we lived in separate dorms, didn't eat at the same table, didn't play together. Unfortunately, after 7 years of staying at the home, when my father took us back to his house, we didn't know how to be a family.
The building is still there although the youngsters it houses now are children who are unfortunately not able to cope and find themselves in trouble with the law.
