My mother Suzie Robertson and her younger brother lived at St. Clara's from 1936-1938. Her mother owned a grocery store on 9th and Galapago and lived upstairs with her youngest child. When my grandmother bought a house at 214 Galapago my mother and her brother left St. Clara's. My mother's memories of her time there are terrible. She was 9 years old. All of the girls her age were worked exceedingly hard. The boys were treated better. The sad memories linger.
