Hi Marge, I have checked the streets in Denver on Google maps and found that Downing Ave. is Downing Street. It runs north & south and is a district that is mainly composed of large brown stone type houses 2-3 stories high. It is about 1.5 miles east of the business center. Champa st. runs N.W to S.E. !0th Champa changes it's name to Kalamath before it gets to 10th ave. The location is in an area that was probably subjected to an urban renewal building program. This was a lower income area and the street could have been eliminated around 14-15 st. which ran Champa St. into Kalamath St. The area could have had an orphanage.
