I'm looking for any orphanage records for North GA. I've just found out my great grandfather, James Lonzo "Lonnie" Boyd, may have been adopted either in Hall Co., GA, or Stephens Co., GA, sometime after he was born in 1877. Lonnie was raised by James B. and Mary A. Boyd of Hall Co., GA, and he died in 1934 in Toccoa, GA. While I knew for many years Lonnie was not directly descended from James & Mary Boyd, I've only recently been told by an older relative that Lonnie was adopted. I was told Lonnie's parents were both killed in a buggy - train collision, but I don't know how old Lonnie would have been at the time of adoption. I'd be grateful for info on orphanages in that area would be very much appreciated as I know absolutely nothing about those institutions. E-mail to me at dale30809@aol.com, dale30809ga@aol.com, or dale30809ga@yahoo.com, Thanks very much. Dale Boyd, Evans, GA.
