The archivist at the Diocese of Savannah has told me exactly the same thing everyone else has heard: for more information, we must get in touch with the Sisters of St. Joseph in St. Louis. My father, Santford Cornelius Tolbert, was sent to the orphanage in the early 1920's when his parents' marriage was under great stress. His experience must have been terrible; he refused to talk about it and it left him with an extremely intense lifelong dislike for the Catholic Church.
If a book or pamphlet exists to tell us more, I would love to have a copy. Has anyone received a positive reply from the Sisters in St. Louis?
