You're welcome! I will have to ask mother what she remembers about Appleton. Dad passed away 3 years ago. Aunt Martha was not a nun; had married long ago but was widowed before I knew Uncle Viv. And yes, they were all staunch Episcopalians (High Church, I believe). At the time we were visiting there, they did not change the girls' names or other vital statistics, and a few were from broken or otherwise bad home situations and possibly troubled themselves, though not legally orphans... or so I remember. Will have to talk with Mother on Tuesday; she's hard of hearing and somewhat forgetful at 96, but the past is clearer most of the time.
