I need names of Orphanages in the upper Georgia
areas.A friends' grandmother, known as Margaret Henderson
born about 1914,Native American,orphaned at age 10.
later adopted by Turner couple in Gaffney,S.C.
Margaret got pregnant supposingly by the Turner man and
she had a daughter,Monica,abt.1932.The records say that the baby was born in Durham,N.C.,then Margaret got married to a Boyce Parker(born abt 1915)and she had 2 children.a girl,
Frances who died at age 3 and a boy Bobby b.1935-d.1972.
then she divorced Boyce and married ? Yow and had 3 more children:Thomas,Kay and ?R.G.(a son).
Margaret died in August 1997,in a nursing home,in Clemmons,N.C., near Winston Salem,N.C.and was buried in a nearby church cemetery.
It has been said also that her indian name could have been Atolia or Etolia.Any info will be much appreciated!
Any Georgia Orphanages appreciated!!
Sincerely Oveta
