I am an Alumni from Angel Guardian Orphanage that was located on the north side of Chicago. You could try any of these 2 phone numbers: 773-624-7443 - 773 / 726-5256.
St. Joseph's Carondalet Child Center
739 E 35th St.
Chicago, IL 60616
A few of the kids were transferred over to AGO back in the 60's. One of our Alumni visited the St. Joe's Home when he was in Chicago for our Reunion 2004 and he was very excited about finding it and hopefully you will be too!!! Here is what he wrote:
"The receptionist in the business office was very helpful. She only required name at the time of entry, date of birth, approx arrival and departure, parents name, contact phone number and address.
I found it very easy to get there. I took the easiest route to the Dan Ryan expressway then exited on 35th St, turning east on 35th, crossing Cottage Grove Ave. and going three blocks to the front entrance where there was easy parking. For any one's information, the main building has not changed. It was built during the civil war as a hospital and because it is the last building in Chicago with a direct tie to the civil war it was designated as a Chicago landmark. It is worth a drive out just to look at the building and bring back some more memories."
Here is the link that we follow to get our records: http://angelguardianorphanage.com/AGORecords.html
- Just ask for St. Joseph's records instead of Angel Guardian Orphanage. Depending on how busy they are, the average turnaround time is about 3-4 months.
BTW, if there are records kept in Blue Island, IL. I live just a few minutes from there. If I could be of any assistance, let me know!
Hope this helps!
