Grandmother who was an orphan.

My grandmother became an orphan in 1902 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Her mother and father were killed in a carriage wreck. She had two other siblings one of which was taken in by a cousin. My grandmother was listed as an orphan on the 1910 census form which recorded the names of orphans in the St. Joseph Convent in Baton Rouge. How can I find out more about her early days as an orphan and how can I find out what happened to her brother? Her name was Ethel Lee Carpenter and her brother was Joe Carpenter. He later served in the U.S. Navy and had a career in the Navy.
