My grandmother was placed there shortly after her birth in 1902. She remembered little of the stay other than the sisters were kind. My wife and I visited the convent, on north Lincoln, in Wichita several years ago and the sisters all but denied that there even was an orphanage. They told us that if there are records they reside at the diocese. I have tried many times to get information but - no success. I fail to understand the stone wall from the convent and from the Catholic Church.
