Female Orphan Asylum in New Orleans

My Grandmother (Helena McCardle) was sent to the Female Orphan Asylum in New Orleans in 1910. It was told that this building burned and they moved to 1314 Nepoleon Ave. which was sold to Anne Rice and later to a realator. Where can I go to find records, photos... for this orphanage?

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Dedra Burks

Looking for my husband's grandmother's origins. She was given to an Orphanage in New Orleans, LA after her birth-father died and her birth-mother married a Methodist Minister. She was adopted by a woman in mid 1800s that our family always called "Aunt Joe". She was English and ran a big general store and bar.
Anybody know where I can look for the name of the Orphanage?
thanks

Looking for Luckey children/decendents placed in a New Orleans orphanage in 1853. My great-grandfather was Michael Charles Luckey and returned to Ireland with 1 of his brothers after death of parents in 1853 in New Orleans. He returned to the US in 1865 looking for his siblings, found 1 brother, never found sister. Mary Luckey b. 1838, Owen Luckey b. 1847, Patrick Luckey b. 1840, Thomas Luckey b. 1850. I'd like to find the decendents of the siblings my great-grandfather was never able to find. Don't know the name of the orphanage, but the family was Irish Catholic. Thanks, Kathy

East Baton Rouge Parish Orphanage

I really need help on this one! An orphanage that was in operation from 1849 and was closed in 1970 was a private orphanage funded by donations but also housed orphans for the welfare department in the 50's and 60's for which they were paid. It appears that this was a temporary placement until a foster family was found. I am having a hard time finding laws pertaining to private orphanages as far as privacy laws are concerned. The time that the orphan was held for the welfare department is obviously private information and should remain so. But what about the years when the orphan was cared for by the orphanage until the mother found financial means of support and she was released back in the care of the mother?

Hope someone can help me on this!!!

Thanks

Karen
