How do I find where my father was in Boston, MA?

My father and his two brothers were either taken away from their parents or given up. He said he was in an orphanage and then placed in a foster care home with a woman named Mrs. Holmes on a farm in the Boston area. He was taken (or given up) in appx. 1925 and I am not sure when he was placed in the foster home. I know who his parents were (though cannot find any info on his mother but know everything about his father). I am having a terrible time trying to find any information. Does anyone have any ideas for me? I appreciate very much any help you can be.
