Hi, there. If the timeframe were around WWII, I can't do any census look-ups as they are only available through 1930. Sorry about that. There were no doubt many orphanages in the state-- the only one I am familiar with as a large institution was the Owatonna State School in Steele county, but I believe they closed down as an orphanage in 1945 so at least that one can be removed as a possibility for your Hal Wolfe.
