Hi,

I was there for almost 4 years..4 long years as I was only 5
And my gram took me out at 9 on Halloween.
My husband and I went back in 1996 I HAD to go to conquer some demons.
It was a Montessori School but when we went it had become a SSeminary for Priests but they were kind enough to let us look around.
Part of the orphanage(Old part)was cordoned off and much remodeling in the rea we were. The older part gave me bad memories, but still glad we went.
It's worth the trip but you do need to get the Seminary's Permission.

I was in an area that was run by Sister Louise who slept in our ward. Very caring and compassionate.
Unlike so many. Especially if you got out of bed and were in the Hallway w/out permision. My Nun from Hell who caught me, found me out and about and she locked me in the hallway with the parting words"Let the r Rats eat you now"

I was one freaked out girl inthe a.m and it took me years to even be able to look at a nun in habit!

I do not have any good memories. I hated getting in the bathrooms with 20 plus girls and the Nuns standing us up naked and washing us down before putting our hair up in 'rag' curlers. Circa 1951-1955. Did my Holy Communion there at the Grotto....
I have never been able to forget no matter how hard I tried.
I was NOT an Orphan. I was abandoned by my mother, father in jail and my gram had no choice she said but to do this for that period of time.
When I left there I had bruises all over my legs as I was a really a fighter on the grounds!!
