Hello.. My grandfather Arthur Smith was born in 1929 and was raised in the State Home and School until he was 15 when his mother came and got him out.(she only kept him for 1 month and then sent him away) He has many stories, good and bad! he always talks about his boxing days at the orphanage. He never let the little ones get picked on while he was around! one day while riding the bus back to Providence a man stopped him, said he seen his fights and offered to take him PRO.. He had nothing to loose so went for it. His Pro career lasted I think about 17-20 fights. 14 wins! He seems to have a missing piece from those days.. I think if he got to talk to someone who was also there.. and understands his stories it would help bring peace. Specially if by chance they remembered him.. or knew of him. He has a loss of family.. the other kids in there at the time were his family! any connection would be great. If there are postings, articles, research.. anything we can look up of other orphans raised in the State home an school during the time he would of been there please let me know. In earlier posts I seen they were trying to make something so the kids would not be forgotten.. did that get done? Please email me with any thoughts, tips or comments: itsmejosette@hotmail.com Thank you!
