While doing family research on Ancestry.com, I came upon a relative, Van Mullinax Jr. and his sister Helen S. Mullinax in the 1930 census as being inmates at this orphanage. I also found their mother, Ollie Mullinax, widowed and with 2 of her five children. Does anyone know what the history of this orphanage or why these children were given over to an orphanage rather than relatives?
