I worked there in the late 70's when it was St. Michael's Home for Children. It was no longer an orphanage, but more of a foster/group home. The front of the building faced east. It was a 3 story building. when I was there, there were 2 "units" on the third floor, and one on the second floor, each housing about 14 children. There were big bedrooms with bunks, and each unit had a common room/kitchen/dining area. A large hallway separated the east and west sides of the building, and a large stairway/landing area separated the north and south sides. Offices were on the second floor on the south side of the foyer/entry. The basement contained classrooms for students who were not able to attend public schools.
