I am Hattie Hill's granddaughter, Carol Wright, at the time. My sister, Harriet and I spent every summer at Kappa Sigma Pi on the farm. We were both in the band too. I played the marimba and I still have a small one that Hattie gave me. I too remember some wonderful experiences there including the blouses we wore made of chicken feed sacks. I have a picture of the band in the 50's and would be happy to share it. My grandmother really considered the home to be a haven for the children of those who could not care for their children rather than an orphanage. I kept in touch with a couple of the old timers, one being Harry Smith, who was a wonderful marimbist. Harry passed away in Phila. a few years ago. I am so exited about finding this site.
