I was wondering if someone would be able to help me with identifying a photograph that my grand father George William Curtis is in.
It is taken just before this group of men went to Mesopotamia in WW1.
The title at the bottom of the photo states
"The Mesopotamia 49 & 50 workshop draft"
I think that it is in the Royal Engineers - as he was an engineer in the 1911 census in Middlesbrough.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am trying to find his service record, his medal record - as he would have got a medal due to being in the WW1. He was 23 when that war broke out, so he would not have had to lie about his age when he enlisted.
He married in 1922, and died in 1966. He was born in 1891.
