Meaning of "do" in 1860 census

I was looking through the 1860 census for Boonville, MO and came across several "do" under occupations. I'm assuming this means "ditto" as it appears under the previous line for "farm laborer" or "merchant." Does anyone know if that's a correct assumption?
Thanks.
