Doukhobor Recipes from the Kootenays (vegetarian)

I'm originally a Doukhobor from the Kootenays. I'm now living in Indonesia. One thing I really miss is my Baba's food. Borscht, pirahi, vereniki, halooshki, etc. I used to have some really good cook books in Canada put out by the Doukhobor women's groups, but unfortunately, they're not here with me :-( I remember the basic recipes for the bases of soups and things, very simple, but I can't remember the proportion of ingredients in the dough recipes. On top of that, dill is no where to be found here and I've only seen beets here once in 7 years, so it's impossible to make borscht.

If anybody is willing to share some of their Kootenay Doukhobor recipes, I'd really appreciate it alot. I just bought my first oven here and I'm really wanting to make some cakes and things, not to mention halooshki!. Anybody who is interested in sharing, please email me at grafx_factory at yahoo.com.

Thanks very much :-)
