KAZAKOFF: Laura - March 11 1925 - October 30, 2012, aged 87 years, was born to Nikifor and Vera Shukin (nee Reibin) on the family farm south of Veregin. Laura was the eldest of four children and attended Veregin School until Grade 8. She was expected to quit school as most other students in her day to help out on the family farm. Laura married Sam Kazakoff in 1944 and they lived for a short time with Sam's parents south of Veregin until they purchased their own land north of Veregin. Sam and Laura were blessed with two children - Elaine and Danny. Laura and Sam farmed until 1985 and then retired to Veregin. Sam passed away a year later on march 29, 1986. Laura continued to reside in Veregin where she looked after her special sister-in-law Laura. Laura moved to Kamsack in 1996 to a low rental, becoming a resident of the Kamsack and District Nursing Home on May 10, 2005. Laura left us for a better place, October 30 at her breakfast table. Laura is survived by her daughter Elaine Krasnikoff; her grandchildren Lorne (Michelle), Doug (Karen), Elissa, Nicole, Daniel, Erin; her great-grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle, Kierra, Madison, and Cacey; her siblings, Florence (Jack) Kazakoff, George (Sonia) Shukin; her sister-in-law Florence (Bill) Morozoff and nieces and nephews. Laura is predeceased by her parents, Nikifor and Vera; in-laws, Nick M. and Molly Kazakoff; husband Sam; son, Danny; daughter-in-law, Nayda; son-in-law, George Krasnikoff; sister, Violet Nemanishen; brothers-in-law, Mike Nemanishen, Peter Popoff, Mike Kazakoff; sister-in-law Laura Kazakoff; nephew, Gary Popoff; great niece, Mackenzie Popoff. Funeral Services were held on November 5, 2012 from the Chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service - Kamsack, with John Trofimenkoff officiating. Interment followed beside her husband Sam at the Veregin cemetery. Friends so wishing may make memorial contribution to the Kamsack and District Nursing Home Auxiliary as tokens of remembrance.
