Fedosoff: Dorothy Fedosoff of the Dernic and Buchanan District passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Canora Gateway Lodge on December 23rd, 2012 at the age of 94 years. Dorothy was born in Castlegar, B.C. on October 15th, 1918 to Mike M. and Fannie (Pereversoff) Krukoff . She was the youngest of four children. Dorothy’s family moved to the Good Spirit District when she was three months old. As a young girl she attended the Strathcona School, two miles east of Good Spirit Lake which was then called Devils Lake. Dorothy left school after the seventh grade to help care for the family when her mother became ill. At the age of seventeen years, she married William Fedosoff. Together the couple farmed in the Dernic district, four miles west of Buchanan. William passed away in 1979 at the age of sixty-nine years. Dorothy spent one year on the farm after William’s passing and then moved to a housing unit in Buchanan where she resided for twenty-nine years. She became a resident of the Canora Gateway Lodge shortly after her ninetieth birthday in 2008 where she resided until her passing. Dorothy thoroughly enjoyed socializing, playing bingo and cards at the Club 50 in Buchanan where she also served on the board for many years. Dorothy also enjoyed tending her houseplants, her garden and even cared for the plants at the Gateway Lodge. She was also an avid sewer, knitter, embroiderer and quilter. Family who visited Dorothy while she knitted or crocheted marveled at how she could visit and never drop a stitch. At the age of fifty Dorothy, obtained her driver’s licence and drove her car until well past her eighty-second birthday. In 1981, Dorothy took a vacation of a lifetime with her granddaughter, Nancy. The pair spent four weeks touring Russia. Family was her life and her grandchildren adored her. Dorothy will be dearly and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was predeceased by her parents: Mike M. and Fannie and her husband, William; her sister Mabel Osachoff; her two brothers: Bill (William) and Mike Krukoff. Dorothy is lovingly remembered by her daughters: Margaret (Lorne) Plaxin of Preeceville and Evelyn (Monte) Sorestad of Buchanan; her son Fred Fedosoff of Regina; her grandchildren: Nancy (Richard) Coates, Susan (Ron) Cameron, Laureen Plaxin, Kim (Ken) Lumb, Alison Plaxin, Trent Sorestad, Tracey Brezinski, Joan (Pat) Shymko, Kelly Sorestad, Brian Williams, Megan Fedosoff and her great-grandchildren: Leah Cameron, Ian Cameron, Brandon Plaxin, Jarrel Plaxin, Scott Plaxin, Abby Lumb, Matthew Lumb, Mitchell Sorestad, Brett Sorestad, Clayton Brezinski, Dori-Lyn Brezinski, Carter Brezinski and Heather Sorestad. The Celebration of Life service was held on Saturday, December 29th, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora with Rev.
