HOTSKO: Mike Hotsko passed away at the age of 77 years at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina, SK. Prayers were held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from the chapel of Andrychuk Funeral Home. A funeral Liturgy was celebrated on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from St. Josaphat's Ukrainian Catholic Church. Interment followed at the Riverview Cemetery. Mike was born on February 27, 1935 on the family farm northeast of Kamsack. He was the only son of Andrew and Mary Hotsko in a family of four children. He attended St. Bascillian School and at an early age left home to work in Kitimat, BC. Mike's passion was farming and in 1957 he returned to Saskatchewan to start farming. On May 4, 1961 he married Gloria Homenuik in Kamsack, SK. Mike and Gloria purchased land in the St. Philips District and began their long life passion of farming. Gloria was always at his side and they farmed together until Mike's passing. Mike was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Mary; sister, Annie; brothers-in-law, Steve Mak and Paul Serafin of Brantford, Ontario. He is survived by his loving wife Gloria of 51 years; sons, Michael and wife Cheryl of Melfort, Wilfred of Melville, and daughter, Karen and husband Fred Popoff of Regina; sisters, Nettie Mak and Sylvia Serafin of Brantford, Ontario. Brother-in-law, Dennis and wife Jennie Homenuik of Winnipeg, Manitoba; his grandchildren, Clayton and Brennan Hotsko; Nick and Rebecca Hotsko; Jesselyn and Melissa Popoff, and many nieces and nephews. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery as gifts of remembrance.
