RODIN: Audrey. April 20, 1915 – December 27, 2012, aged 97 years, was born in a Doukhobor Village in the Kamsack district to George and Annie Shiakoff (nee Mojelski). As a child she attended Poplar Point and Anse Schools till Grade 8. She continued to live in the Poplar Point District working on the family farm and odd jobs until 1945 when she moved to Sudbury, Ontario. During her time there she worked at INCO, making bombs during World War 2. When the war ended she worked as a waitress. On October 16, 1949 she married Arthur Rodin in Sudbury. Together they had three children; Bettyann, Gloria and Arthur. In 1987 they returned to Kamsack to retire, later moving to Yorkton, where her husband passed away in 1997. Audrey was a member of Kamsack Doukhobor Prayer Home and loved to sing in the choir. She enjoyed dressing in traditional Doukhobor clothing and attending various celebrations in Veregin. Audrey is survived by her loving children Bettyann Dix, Gloria (Larry) Stesenko, Arthur Sidney (Janelle) Rodin; grandchildren: Michael (Chrystal) Rodin, Christine (Tim) Pawlette, Jason Stesenko, Beth Dix, Laurie Dix, Carolyn Dix, Ryan Rodin, Darren Rodin, Courtney Rodin; great grand-children: Brennen, Sheldon, Jorden Rodin. Gavin Pawlett, Casey, Donovan, Grayson, Riley, Damon, Daniel, Morgan, Monique Dix and by one sister, Nettie Hall. Audrey is predeceased by her parents, husband Arthur; one sister, Mary Formuzewich and by one brother, George Shlakoff. Funeral services were held December 31, 2012 from the Chapel of Wolkowski Funeral Service, Kamsack, with John Trofimenkoff officiating. Interment followed at the Riverview Cemetery. Friends so wishing may make memorial donations to Kamsack and District Nursing Home Auxiliary in memory of Audrey. Letter of condolences may be left by visiting
