I have been hiting a brick wall resarching and finding records on my matrnal great grand parents. There names where Archie Myers and Sarah Myers nee Harris. They where both Russian Jews that came to live in the Leylands area of Leeds. I think they probably came over with there parents and siblings around the early 1900's.
I would really like to know what their Russian Jewish names where before they changed them to English sounding.
I do have the marriage certificate for Archie Myers and Sarah Harris in 1906 which shows:
Archie's age as 21 and his occupation as slipper maker
Archie's father named Solomon Myers (deceased slipper maker)
Sarah's age is 20 and her occupation is tailoress
Sarah's father named Joseph Harris (Tailor)
Married at 20 Elmwood St, Leeds
I also have the 1911 census for Archie Myers and Sarah Myers nee Harris which shows:
They where living at Millwright St, Leeds
They had one child that had died young
Archie's occupation is boot rivetter in the boot trade
My matrnal grandad Nathan Myers was one of three children that Archie Myers and Sarah Myers nee Harris had.
I have the birth certificate for my maternal grandad Nathan Myes. It shows he was born in 1917 at 7 Grey St, Leeds.
Nathan Myers other siblings are Millie Myers and Joseph Myers. Nathan Myers and sister Millie Myers both married non Jews in 1939. Joseph Myers married a Jew in 1948.
There is much I don't know or how to find it. Any information you can help me with will be much appreciated.
