Classification: Query
Surnames: Adelman, Edelman, Calof, Kalov, Willensky, Rubin
gg grandfather Abraham Adelman and gg grandmother Razel (Rosa) arrived in New York about 1860. Moved out to North Dakota in 1890's.
Their children were Frieda, Rae, Fanny, Ike (Isaac), Herman (Hyman?), and Joe (Yoseph).
Supposedly, Abraham's father was "Yosl Adelman" who was married to "Sholem Kalov's widow"
Family lore has them coming from Kiev, but haven't found anything to support this, or whether or not Abraham had brothers or sisters that came out as well. My grandfather also told my dad that our family name was changed from Kalov to Adelman, but this could be a broken telephone issue.
Let me know if any of this rings bells.
