I am looking for the familial origines of Isaac Lapeyrère, born in Bordeaux in 1596, author of several books, the most known of them being "Du rappel des juifs", 1643 and "Praeadamitae …", 1655 ("Men before Adam …").

His mother's parents were: Julien (de) Malet, or Mallet, and Catherine de Terrague, who herself was the grand-daughter of a: Gabriel de Tarrégua, maybe from spanish and judaic origin. Till now, I could'nt find anything about the family of Julien Malet. He was Treasurer of the King of Navarre Henri III, who became later Henri IV, King of France.

I found on the web your message about surnames, and I am very curious to know if you have more information about the Malet. I should be very thankful if you wanted to give me an answer about this.

My Gran ( Dad's mother) who died sometime ago, was called Mallet.I remember her saying that her father was a French seaman. I do not hold any information on this.

I am from Mauritius, I do not know if you have any information regarding this branch of the family? Do I have any Jewish connection please.
