Thank you so much for your wisdom here. This is how I feel about my ancestors. Not just the name and finding another of the name as Jewish and removed to Poland, but the lore of being bankers and brokers in Barcelona as well. Although there was admixture, they definitely came from a Jewish culture and, as you say, Jews are Jews and Gentiles are Gentiles. The experiences and culture were different and were very much a part of them as they are part of me.
