I am have a hard time finding other Sephardic Jews with the Jimenez last name. I did discover that my great, great, great grandfather use to spell Jimenez differently. They use to spell it with a "G" and ended it with an "S". So it was spelled, "Gimenes." My grandfather told me that his father told him that they changed the spelling of their last name so that people could not tell that they were Jewish. But then I looked up the different ways of spelling my last name, I learned that when Jimenez is spelled with a "G", it is just the Portuguese form or writing Jimenez. Sometime in the late 1800s, my family converted to Catholicism, but still continued to celebrate Jewish Holidays. I converted back to Judaism and so has half of my family. Are there any other Jewish Jimenez families out there, if so has your family always been Jewish?
