Deal is Halted
HONOLULU, Dec. 28, Via San Francisco, January 3. - The deal whereby about 1200 Molokan Russians, now near Los Angeles, Cal., were to come here as settlers has been interrupted by a disagreement regarding the terms upon which the sugar cane they are to produce shall be bought by the Makee Sugar Company. It is probable that Land Commissioner Pratt, Manager Fairchild of the sugar company, and J. B. Castle, who has been negotiating for the Russians, will go to Los Angeles to discuss the matter.
