Maiden is Killed on Way to School by Former Admirer
Shows his regard for her; father orders him from house and tragedy results
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 12.--Balked in his attempts to make love to Dorothy Malakanoff, a ten-year-old girl, and with his brain maddened by jealousy and passion, Demetri Treshenko, about 35 years old, shot and killed the child as she was going to school with her books on her arm at 8:30 this morning, then fired a bullet into his own brain. He is now undergoing an operation at Lane Hospital, but there is not one chance in a hundred for saving his life.
Treshenko, who is believed to be a married man now resides at 934 Arkansas Street, lived, up to ten months ago, with the Malakanoff family at 1029 Carolina street. He had resided there for little less than a year when he was ordered from the house by the girl's father, who thought he was too familiar with her.
He had frequently used terms of endearment when speaking of the child, who was then but a little over nine years or age, and was particularly angered when told that he must leave.

FIEND MURDERS 10-YEAR OLD GIRL
Driven from Household, San Franciscan Takes Awful Revenge
SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 12.—Dorothy Malakanoff, the 10-year-old daughter of Russian parents, was shot and instantly killed today by D. Treshenko, a young laborer who had been driven from the Malakanoff household because lie persisted in paying attention to the child Tereschinko then shot himself through the brain and will die.
Treshenko, who is a Russian, 25 years of age, lay in wait for the girl and as she passed on her way to school he drew a revolver and fired twice, killing her instantly. The murderer then turned the weapon on himself, sending a bullet through his brain. He was removed to the Emergency Hospital in a dying condition. Treshenko has for several weeks been a boarder at the Malakanoff home and was ordered to leave a day or two ago, when the child's father and mother learned that he had attempted to force his unwelcome attentions upon her.

Child Slayer Found Guilty
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 17th—Dimitri Treshenko, charged with the murder of Dorothy Malakanoff, aged 10 years, on February 12, was found guilty today by a jury in the superior court, Treshenko, who is 60 years of age was infatuated with the child and shot her while she was on her way to school. He attempted to take his own life but failed.
