Mongrel Dog is Credited With Saving Master
Porterville - June 15.
Gin, year-old black and white mongrel dog, was given a lavish feast tonight after it was credited with saving the life of his master, little Jimmy Demetriff, two who fell in an irrigation canal near Poplar.
Jimmy, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Demetriff, suddenly lost his balance as he was playing along the side of the ditch, according to the story of his white-faced sister, Jennie, 11.
The dog jumped in after him while Jennie stood horrified on the bank. Grabbing him by the seat of his pants, the dog pushed the little boy to the edge, where combined efforts of the sister and dog succeeded in getting Jimmy onto the bank.
