I am working on some family lines who were very early settlers in the Newton, LI, NY area.

There are some marriage records in the Presbyterian church at Newton, LI, NY, and some collateral lines served as ministers in that church.

However,I have also found references to several in these families being Quaker, or embracing Quaker teachings.

Is it possible they were BOTH? I don't know much about the Quakers, but did search some early meeting lists in the area where my ancestors were. I did not find them on the Quaker lists.

The family names I'm working with are:
Way
Gosslin (Gorsline, Gosline, Gorselene, Gorslin etc.)
Leverich

Some of them removed from Newton to the Fishkill area in Dutchess county.
