Looking for others who had ancestors working with the Salvation Army in India. My g.grandparents William EVA (aka Capt Seenavasagam) and Jane/Jennie SAXBY (aka Lt. Arulai) were part of the Tamil Division. William had arrived in India Aug 1887 (with the Jubilee Fifty) and Jane had arrived Dec 1890 (with the Memorial Fifty). They were married April 1891 in a ceremony detailed in the April 13, 1891 issue of the Indian War Cry. Some people refered to in this article were Major Jai Bhai, Staff-Capt Santosham, & Lt. Chellaya Pillay. Of course, these names are those assumed in India by British SA officers to help them fit into Indian society.
