Bjorn Stockman, who is located at the SA Headquarters in Stockholm, and also was a friend of my father, is asking about Emily Petterson and her spouse Edward G. Janse. They married January 24, 1891 in Manhattan, NY. According to Bjorn, he has found Edward Janse, cert# 6027063, died 1917-09-04 in Cook County; Emile Janse, cert#8957, died 1911-08-28 in Cook County, IL.
Here is a paragraph that I will translate from Swedish that explains Bjorn’s and the SA’s quest.
“It is namely so that we cannot find the third woman, Emilie Pettersson, who participated in starting the Salvation Army in Sweden. She was only involved for a short period of time but she accomplished a lot. Among other endeavors, she started the work in Gothenburg. She became finally in disfavor with Hanna Ouchterlony(the acknowledged founder of the Salvation Army in Sweden) and was stricken from all registers. But, as it happens, a letter came to the Headquarters in Stockholm from a man who is related to Emilie, and subsequently we have received her birthdate. He relates also that she was married to Janse and lived in the US. That’s how my quest begins.”
Hopefull,
Elsie Ekstrom Martin
