divorce/separation records

Does anyone happen to know if the Salvation Army kept records of divorces or separations? I have read where the couple in question had to go through kind of a marriage counseling session or sessions before they could separate or divorce. My couple in question did separate (and not get back together) but I can't find a divorce record in the parliamentary divorces, so I'm turning to church records.
Thank you in advance for any responses.
Lisa

Looking for others who had ancestors working with the Salvation Army in India. My g.grandparents William EVA (aka Capt Seenavasagam) and Jane/Jennie SAXBY (aka Lt. Arulai) were part of the Tamil Division. William had arrived in India Aug 1887 (with the Jubilee Fifty) and Jane had arrived Dec 1890 (with the Memorial Fifty). They were married April 1891 in a ceremony detailed in the April 13, 1891 issue of the Indian War Cry. Some people refered to in this article were Major Jai Bhai, Staff-Capt Santosham, & Lt. Chellaya Pillay. Of course, these names are those assumed in India by British SA officers to help them fit into Indian society.

Her two daughters were also listed there in 1930! Address on census was Lansdowne Ave.
If anyone can point me in the right direction as to 'who' to contact about these records, I would be eternally grateful!

thanks

JANSE, VICTOR, SODERLUND & HUBBARD families (kin of Emelie PETTERSON, Swedish SA Pioneer)

I've been working with Elsie Martin and Bjorn Stockman of the SA's Swedish archives (see previous thread) on the Emelie PETTERSON case (important early SA pioneer in Sweden). In the process, we've uncovered other family members, notably the JANSE, VICTOR, SODERLUND and HUBBARD families, who MAY also have been Salvationists. It is possible that descendants have valuable information about Emelie PETTERSON, information that may have come down to them through their families. We would very much like to hear from anyone who is either descended from these families or know of people who may be related to them.

The VICTOR family flived in Chicago after immigrating in 1902. They were Carl and Ericka VICTOR, daughters, Mary and Thelka, and son, Hugo. Sometime before 1910, Thelka appears to have gotten married. After 1910, Carl, Ericka and Hugo moved to Kitsap County, Washington. In 1920, Carl Victor was a seaman. He died in 1927.

Thelka VICTOR lived at 6750 Honore Street, Chicago in the 1920s, though we do not know the name of her huband.

Anna B. Victor, born about 1885, married Marcus SODERLUND in about 1907. A son, Richard V. SODERLUND, was born in 1907. This family lived in Eagle Harbor, Kitsap, WA in 1920; in Seattle, WA in 1918; and in Liberty, Kitsap, WA in 1930. Marcus SODERLUND's occupation was capain of a sailing boat.

It is thought that Mary VICTOR, who was 15 years old and living with her family in Chicago in 1910, married and had children, but it is not known where she lived or who she married.

Hugo VICTOR, Carl's son, appears not to have married, but lived with the SODERLUNDs in 1920. He, too, was a seaman, and was born about 1895.

Emelie's husband, Edward G. JANSE, had a sister, Mrs. Aurora HUBBARD, wife of William HUBBARD, who lived in Chicago in 1900 and 1910. She was born sometime between 1846 and 1855.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Emilie Pettersson

Bjorn Stockman, who is located at the SA Headquarters in Stockholm, and also was a friend of my father, is asking about Emily Petterson and her spouse Edward G. Janse. They married January 24, 1891 in Manhattan, NY. According to Bjorn, he has found Edward Janse, cert# 6027063, died 1917-09-04 in Cook County; Emile Janse, cert#8957, died 1911-08-28 in Cook County, IL.
Here is a paragraph that I will translate from Swedish that explains Bjorn’s and the SA’s quest.
“It is namely so that we cannot find the third woman, Emilie Pettersson, who participated in starting the Salvation Army in Sweden. She was only involved for a short period of time but she accomplished a lot. Among other endeavors, she started the work in Gothenburg. She became finally in disfavor with Hanna Ouchterlony(the acknowledged founder of the Salvation Army in Sweden) and was stricken from all registers. But, as it happens, a letter came to the Headquarters in Stockholm from a man who is related to Emilie, and subsequently we have received her birthdate. He relates also that she was married to Janse and lived in the US. That’s how my quest begins.”
Hopefull,
Elsie Ekstrom Martin
This posting is aided with info from Bjorn Stockman, bjorn.stockman@fralsningsarmen.se

Tom Rogers and Elizabeth M(Lillie) McClelland

I'd like to find information on my Great Grandparents Tom Rogers and Elizabeth M(Lillie) McClelland who came to the U.S. from England in the 1880s with the Army. They married 9 Dec 1890 in Yonkers, NY and were in Michigan (1892), Maine (1894), Washington (1900), Boyle Heights, CA (1902), San Diego (1910, 1920). They died in Los Angeles in the 1950s.
Lillie was kicked out of the house (in England) when she joined the army as her dad was a drinker. She was born in 1867 (May 5). I don't know when Tom was born but probably around then. I don't know when they joined the Army. I don't know when they came to this country. He was born in Penzance, England.
Their son Ballington rose through the ranks of the Army. He spent time in Hawaii, Illinois and Pasadena, CA. Ballington was born in 1894. I don't know if any of his children were in the Army.
Any help on where to find more information would be great.

There are excellent records. I have been at the receiving end of wonderful research provided by SA archivist Gordon Taylor of London England. I paid a research fee of 5 UKpounds per hour of his time, and I know he undercharged me! Among other details, he found a copy of the Indian War Cry which described in great detail the wedding of my g.grandparents in 1891. Full page article. What a find! Unfortunately the old War Cry newsletters are very fragile, so every bit of research money we can send will help save valuable information for future genealogists.

Would there be any records that might give some idea where he came from before that and how he happened to be there at that time.
