Hiram Dwinell Fox was born March 12, 1851 in Raymondville, New York, to Charles Fox and Amanda Gilbert and died January 05, 1932 in Wichita, Kansas. He married Elizabeth F Baldwin November 15, 1879, daughter of John Baldwin and Martha Osborn. She was born February 05, 1860 in West Branch, Sioux County, Iowa, and died January 13, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas.
Hiram D. Fox left New York state and was in Tonganoxie, Leavenworth County, Kansas at least by November 15, 1879 when he married Elizabeth Baldwin, who was originally from New Providence, Iowa. Hiram was 28 and Eliza 19 at thetime of their marriage. Hiram and Eliza left Kansas and moved to Newberg,Oregon some time before 1891 which was when their son, Norman Gilbert wasborn. At that time Hiram was 40 and Eliza 31. They then moved back to Kansasby 1904 or 1906 and lived in Wichita. For about a year or so, beginning in 1910, Hiram and Eliza lived in Belleville, Republic County, Kansas before returning to Wichita.
In 1921, Hiram (aged 70) and Eliza (aged 61) were in Oil Hill (by El Dorado), Kansas, probably living with their son, John Leslie Fox, who was a Mason as was his father. They returned to Wichita to live the rest of their days. While in Wichita, Hiram Fox was "one of the most careful andpainstaking employees the city ever had" as sidewalk and pavement inspector for the city. He was a Mason from at least 1900 until his death in 1932 (most likely longer). Hiram's wife, Eliza, was raised as a Quaker (Societyof Friends) and he later joined the church. They raised their children as Friends in Newberg, Oregon and also in Wichita. His death certificate states that he never served in the armed forces and was 80 years and 10 months atthe time of his death. It also states his position as Inspector for the city and that he had last worked there in June, 1929 after 15 years of service (that would mean that he had quit working at age 78?).
Children of Hiram Fox and Elizabeth Baldwin are:
5 i. J Leslie Fox.
6 ii. Raymond Gilbert Fox.
+ 7 iii. Norman Gilbert Fox, born October 10, 1891 in Newberg, Oregon; died December 28, 1963 in Louisiana.
