No matter where you are in your family tree there is always so much more to learn. I have found that some beginners bring with them an intuitive sense of where to go for the right information. So yes, asking questions is a plus. Read and get a feel for whether the information given to you is right for your line of ancestors. I have gotten a lot of information from headstones and cemeteries so I am on a crusade to uncover information related to cemeteries. Yes, I will admit a couple could have phrased their words more carefully. But I also groan when I think of all the well meaning and overly zealous family historians who think the family trees out there (not all... there are some really well put together family trees) are hotbeds of information. They are but it may be inaccurate.
