actually the prior emails all were pretty snarky and the OP didn't say he wasn't listening to advise at the time, frankly not much was being given, he was just being told he was wrong.

I do have to say that the last few posts though have been polite and much more helpful (at least from my perspective, I'm not the one asking the question). Those responses would definitely not scare me away from asking questions.

As to why I wasn't offering any educational suggestions - that's because while I've been doing this for a couple of years now it's very, very part time. I read these posts to learn something from the questions others have as well. But it's posts like those I was referring to that make me not want to ask questions, I don't need to be put down because I haven't been doing this for upteen years. If people don't feel like they can ask questions then they tend to go with what they can see and don't learn how to verify sources etc.

A helping hand would go a lot further to get the word out about the best practices for doing research then a verbal smack does.

And again, those last few posts did exactly that- offered a helping hand in a pleasant and non judgemental manner. Thank you from all those out there that aren't as experienced as you are, it really is helpful.
