Hi 65,

You could send off for a copy of the certificate from the GRO which may have the occupations more clearly written.
This is the index in Freebmd
Marriages Q2 1877
Huxley Arthur Fulham 1a 428
Payne James Fulham 1a 428
REID Mary Charlotte Fulham 1a 428
SMITH Zelpha Fulham 1a 428

In census records
1911 Arthur was "dealer skins" - age 52 as was his wife Zelpha. Both born in Chiswick like thier children

1901 Arthur was a Greengrocer

1891 Arthur was a Hawker

1881 Arthur was a Basket Maker

All of which suggests to me that he was not a Fireman (putting out fires or shoveling coal onto steam engines). More like an Arthur Daley sort of chap.

I'm not convinced that the first letter is "F". It seems to be like the first letter in the surname of the vicar, which may be a "T". In 1871 census there is a vicar of St Peters Hammersmith called George H TIDCOMBE age 44.

So I think you occupation may be something like Ti??man Tinman maybe.
