Help Deciphering Father Qualification on Birth Record

I downloaded a birth record from ScotlandsPeople for my 2nd great grandfather who was born near Carnwath in Lanarkshire in 1859.

In the column labeled "Signature, Qualification, and Residence of Informant, if out of the House in which the Birth occurred" there is a line written under the father's name that I can't decipher.

it says something like "???? mark Father"

I attached two examples from the same page in the Statutory register that were written by the same registrar. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone can help decipher this text and/or explain what it means.

Thanks!
