Just curious, what happened to the Dawes Family photo album? From your description, it sounds like it might be Anthony Milward Dawes's family. He is part of the enormous Dawes family from Alfreton, Derbyshire. I've traced him to Butte, Montana where the family lived up until the 1930s/40s.

This might be my great-grand uncle's bible. He was Delos E. Abrams (my grandfather and father are both Delos Abrams named after him). I know that Delos E. Abrams was born 1870 in Northville, NY. In 1880 he moved to Wells, NY with his family and would have been age 10 at that time. In 1894, he married Minnie Knight, at age 24. I have not found information on him between 1887 and 1895, possibly because he was attending school? He became a Baptist Minister and preached at many many churches, from Broadalbin, to Ephratah to Madison, to Elmira, etc etc. If this is indeed my great grand uncle, my father, Delos Abrams, would love to have his bible. We have just recently been working on our ancestory and Dad is now almost 86 years old. I hope that you will reply.....My father would love to hear about this bible.

Hello,
Probably not my relative, if you even have the book anymore ( if you are even at this email address!), but I have an ancestor who was quite a mystery also by the name of Mary Ann Partington. She was born in Bolton, England in 1865 by the name of Mary Ann Vickers. She married in 1883 as Mary Ann Vicars, to Edward Beedles, and then again in 1892 as Mary Ann Vickers to John Thomas Partington ( we don't think she was a widow when she married a second time). We know she came to Canada for a year in 1883 and also seems to have come briefly / some ties in the States ( including the father of one of her children!!??) She eventually settled in Ontario, Canada with some of her grown children.
Probably not the Mary Ann in your book, but if any of this sounds familiar, I would love to hear back from you!
Susan

I hate to toss these when they could be precious to someone. Some have names on the back so maybe a family might be found. In one picture there are several Harringtons-- Jim, "Mrs." (holding a bouquet)Vena, Glen and Ruby.Other names are Ross Moss,James Moss, Wanda Moss,Burchell Moss. And Gilbert Roberts, etc. If these names are familiar, please contact me by email or here.

Hi Claire

I have also been searching for Hugh - he is also my father! I was born in 1947 and my brother Christopher in 1951. Our mother was Lorna Bruce Jones (nee Fielding) and after her death we were unable to find any record of her actually having married Hugh. We lived in Sussex and my parents separated when I was five (around 1952 I suppose)and we had no contact (as far as I know, as my mother would never talk about him, apart from the fact that he had been thrown out of the merchant navy when he went AWOL in charge of a ship in Helsinki) after that. According to my mother he had a drink problem. I have a few photos of him.
I found out a little via Ancestry about his previous marriage, and the fact that he had died in New Zealand.
I would love to hear from you.
Sally

Re: Found: Genealogy of Thomas DAVIS (1782-1846) -- Stevenson, Gosling, McDougal, Scripps, Hiatt, Davis

Some additional clarification about the family of Thomas Davis... The Thomas Davis about whom the book was written came to Bedford County, TN, about 1810-1811 from Virginia, along with one of his brothers, Henry Davis. They were in business together in Shelbyville for a time, and Thomas was the first mayor. Their parents were Benjamin Franklin Davis and his wife, Tabitha Rose, of Brunswick Co,, VA. Benjamin's parents were Henry Davis and his wife, Mary Marriott, of Surry Co., VA. This Davis line has been documented back to fairly early days of the Jamestown settlement.

Thomas Davis was married twice: 1) to Elizabeth (surname unknown), who may have been married earlier to a Chilcot; 2) Eliza Stevenson. There were children by both wives, most of whom survived to adulthood. Daughters of the first marriage married men named Augustus White, Henry Yandell, William Brame and John Salmon "RIP" Ford. Children of his second marriage grew up in Peoria, IL, where their mother moved to live near her family after Thomas Davis died in 1846. Surnames other than those already listed married the children (or grandchildren) who moved to Peoria.

Hi Mark

I have ordered this book, I have an extract from it that follows my lineage via my great grandmother back to about 1500-1600ish.

What I have is only my family's direct lineage, but of course happy to check when I get the book :)

The Chase's apparently dispersed to America, Africa, Australasia (my family) and the West Indies from England, but most likely originally from France.

Cheers for now
Belinda
His father was Hilton Chase, he unfortunately died when Ian was only 2 years old, therefore do not have any more info. My mother in law cannot remember the name of the late Hilton Chase's father. I do know there are only a handful of Centlivres Chase's. Could you be of any assitance?
Hi-

Back in 2000, you posted information regarding two photos from WW2, one of which shows the 180th Military Police Co. north of Pisa, Italy. My father served there in that company during that period and wonder if you still have the photo. Is it possible to get a copy?

Thanks,
Cheri Ness Holcombe
